Workshop reminders…

This might be overkill for PWAC members, who already received notice of these workshops, but there are subscribers to this blog who are not PWAC members, and this might be of interest.

First, something NEW. Who knew that Statistics Canada offered workshops? Well, they do. They could be useful for people who analyze and or use statistical data in their work. Anything scientific, or investigative is likely to come across statistics. You can find out about the workshops offered in Quebec (in both languages) from this link, and you can check out the offerings in other parts of the country.

Now, the reminders. The Editors’ Association of Canada (EAC) and the Writers’ Union of Canada (TWUC), wanted PWAC members to know about some of their upcoming events.

The EAC will be holding tests for proofreading and structural editing on Saturday, November 17, 2012. These tests are offered as part of the EAC certification program for editors of written material who work in English. The following test locations are planned, demand and resources permitting: Vancouver, Edmonton, Calgary, Saskatoon, Winnipeg, Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal and Halifax. For more information, please visit their website: http://www.editors.ca/certification/index.html.

The EAC is also holding a workshop called “Usage Woes and Myths”, and you can find the details for that workshop, right here on our site.

Finally, this November the Writers’ Union of Canada will be holding workshops at a variety of locations, including online as a reduced-cost webinar, for their popular workshop, “How To Be Your Own Publicist.” Authors Elizabeth Ruth and our very own PWAC member Ann Douglas will present on traditional but innovative book marketing strategies, as well as new media opportunities for writers. Kelly Duffin, Executive Director of the Writers’ Union of Canada, will update participants on the latest evolutions in the publishing landscape. For more information or to register, please visit their website: http://www.writersunion.ca/pd-workshops. The Montreal workshop will be held on Thursday, November 8, 2012
