Writing abroad, from home

Here’s a cool tip for freelance journalists: think beyond your borders. That’s what our Chapter VP Lorraine Mallinder has done.

She has written a piece about international freelancing for Le Trente, the magazine of the Fédération Professionnelle des Journalistes du Québec. In the piece she interviews five freelancers in five different parts of the world about their experiences of pitching to foreign markets, rights, payments, and relationships with editors.

The article is in French (click here for the pdf). If you don’t read French, but want more info, but be sure to visit Lorraine’s site to get an idea of the kinds of stories you can pitch to foreign markets.
