The 2008 CBC Literary Awards competition is open to entries, which must be submitted (along with a $20 cheque) on or before November 1st, 2008. Winners will be announced in February 2009.
The CBC Literary Awards competition is the only literary competition that celebrates original, unpublished works, in Canada’s two official languages. There are three categories—short story, poetry, and creative nonfiction—and $60,000 of prize money courtesy of the Canada Council for the Arts. In addition, winning entries are published in Air Canada’s enRoute magazine and visibility is offered to the winners and their winning entries by CBC.
All entries must be original and unpublished works. Entries must be written in English or French (translations are not eligible.) All entries must fall within one of the following categories and be within the specified word count *:
- Short story (2000 – 2500 words)
- Creative nonfiction (2000 – 2500 words)
- Poetry (1000 – 2000 words)
