Summit Studios, a small Canadian publishing company that specializes in humour anthologies, is calling for entries to publish in 2012 and 2013. Word on the street – or cyberspace – is that Quebec writers have been under-represented in their anthologies, so they’re eager to read the work of Quebec writers which, we know, totally rocks. There’s still time, as the deadline for submissions is February 29, 2012.
According to the publisher: “This time around we’re giving away $3,000 in cash prizes to nine winners in four distinct categories, including a $1,000 Grand Prize. The previous Grand Prize winner was Lois Gordon of the Writers’ Circle of Durham Region for her story “Antler Girls,” which appeared with some two dozen other stories in the 2010 anthology Never Trust a Smiling Bear. For writers who do not win a prize, there is still a good chance we will publish their story if it fits our parameters. Writers maintain copyright to their work, and we pay a minimum $100 honorarium for every story that we publish.”
Interested writers should visit www.summitstudios.biz and download Story Contest Guidelines and to familiarize themselves with the types of stories Summit likes to publish. You’ll find several previously published stories under some of the author profiles in the Writers’ Spotlight section.
